A rather slow moving low pressure system will affect the area from the west and is expected to give Islandwide showers and thunderstorms at times. During the warning period some prolonged periods of heavy rain and strong and/or severe thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and hail (≤2cm) are likely, with the risk for localized flash flooding. Rainfall totals of 35mm or greater are locally expected within a 3 hour period or 40-50 mm within a 6 hour period or 50-60mm within a 12 hour period.
There is a possibility that severely or extremely bad weather could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays and road closures due to overflow of rivers or streams, interruption to power and the potential risk to life, property as well as vegetables and fruit.
On the map below you can see the chance for excessive rainfall/flood risk!
